Sound & Memory offers curated workshops, concerts and public performances that engage with the practical and philosophical questions of End of Life

We will work together to craft a program that meet your group’s needs, utilizing structured activities, group discussion, and musical performance to enriches participants’ exploration of these and other profound topics:

TREEHOUSE

A musical fantasia exploring perspectives on death and mourning ritual through the voices of plants, animals, earth and celestial elements. Presented at Bluestockings Bookstore for NPR Tiny Desk Concerts.

LAMINARIA

A Folk Horror Chamber Music Suite about the cycle of birth, death and the spaces between, told through the narrative of an underwater sea ghost. Presented at the Stone Circle Theatre in Queens, NYC. Suitable for workshops foregrounding topics such as Myth, Folklore, Memory, and Shadow.

MIRROR TOUCH

A Song Cycle exploring Neurodivergent experiences of grief and loss. Presented at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for the International Conference on Music and Synesthesia.

INVISIBLE LIGHT

INVISIBLE LIGHT is a multisensory, electroacoustic music composition (©️ Abbate/Orr) inspired by the ways birds use earth’s magnetic fields (invisible to us) to navigate during migration. The work, performed to a video score of wave and pattern animations, poses questions about animal perspectives/perception, neurodivergent thinking, climate change grief, and communal mourning.
